Western Roar Club Captain and Life Member calls time on netball career.
One of the most celebrated athletes in WA netball, Tess Gee-Cranberg is saying farewell to the game to pursue the next chapter with her young family.
"I am incredibly sad to be retiring from a sport that has given me so much, but incredibly grateful for the lasting memories and lifetime friendships I have made" says Gee-Cransberg "Western Roar will always hold a special place in my heart - but for me, after 24 years, it's time to begin a new chapter of life focussed on being the best mum and wife I can be."
The gun netballer has enjoyed a remarkable WANL career with many accolades to her name including; being named WANL's "Players Player", four-time winner of WANL "Team of the Year - GA" and has lead Perth Lions and Western Roar Netball Club teams to numerous grand finals as captain. As a leader and a teammate, she has embodied the spirit of the club and has been on many occasions a pillar of strength on and off the court for her teammates.
"Tess' departure leaves a huge hole that, honestly, may never be filled." says League Coach Dylan McPherson. "She is one of the most naturally gifted netballers I have ever seen play the game. There are countless games in her decorated career where the win could be attributed wholly and solely to Tess' performance. She was a game changer, she was a match winner and she is truly incomparable."
Although she may be hanging up the dress, Gee-Cranberg will not be a stranger to the club or the sport.
"She has set a high bar for the future club leaders and we are fortunate she is staying around to mentor Roar's future stars" says Club President Simone Pirie. "Tess is a smart, grounded, resilient and passionate leader and has lead the club to great success. Tess has been a much loved and inspirational Club Captain at Western Roar Netball Club. We thank you Tess, and we wish you all the best for your future endeavours."
