Andrea McCulloch – Head Coach & Co-League: Andrea has been the League coach with Perth Lions over the past four seasons. A premiership in her first season in 2015 and top two for all Perth Lions teams in 2018 would indicate the club is headed in the right direction. Previously she was the reserves coach and assistant league coach for Perth Lions. Andrea played her netball with Royals and Storm Netball Clubs before the pull of coaching at the higher level was too strong. She is an outstanding mentor, organised and has a strong development plan for the club. She has coached U/19 and Western Sting teams and been an assistant to the U/17 and U/21 teams previously. Andrea has Netball Australia Elite Coach Accreditation.

Dylan McPherson – Co-League Coach: Dylan was lured to Perth Lions in 2018 from South East Demons where he was the League Assistant Coach. He has been a valuable acquisition to the club especially with his calmness, passion and ability to relate to the players about the current style of the game having himself played the game at both club, State and National levels. He is a current Australian Men’s Open player and was a part of the successful Trans Tasman Cup winning team in October 2018. Dylan attempts to bring skills and tactics across from the men’s game and believes in the usefulness of thinking outside the box as the sport evolves.

Karen Turnbull – Coach 20 & Under: Karen has coached at WANL level for many years and has won seven WANL premierships over the past seven years in Reserves with Coastal Sharks (2012-2016) and 18 & under (2017 and 2018). Karen has a proven track record that always gets the best out of the team she coaches and develops them to be outstanding netballers. Karen’s experience stems from her early playing career with Royals then Perth Bullets and numerous State teams. She was the inaugural 18 & under Bullets coach in 2000. It was fitting that in the first and last year of the WANL 18 & Under competition, Karen coached Perth Bullets/Lions to premierships. She has coached State underage U/17 and U/19 teams along with her many years at WANL level. As a player Karen was a dour defender and picked off many a ball with her quick footwork. Karen is without doubt one of the best coaches in the State and Western Roar is very lucky to have her as part of our team.

Vanessa Howes – Assistant Coach 20 & Under: Vanessa was born into netball royalty as her grandmother was Maude Matthews (Matthews Netball Centre) and she grew up playing against and with elite netballers under Bette Allison’s tuition at Royal NC. From the age of 14 she represented the state in all under age national competitions from 16 through to under 21’s and then played for the open state team for many years. She participated at club netball for her entire netball career , was selected in the inaugural WAIS program and also the State league competition where she played for Coastals and Perth Bullets spanning for many years.  Ness excelled at every position on the court and her knowledge of the game means she can give all players an insight into tactics and tips on how to improve their own game but also how to stop opponents. Ness has taken on coaching roles for many years at Royals NC and Newman College and has only returned to the state league arena recently.

Lynn Gaye – Men’s Coach: Lynn has been the Kalamunda and Districts Development Officer for the last 14 years whilst coaching Association teams and Rangers Junior/Cadets and Academy during this time.  Lyn coached Rangers Reserves for 4 years from 2011-2014 and coached Rangers 18’s for 2 years from 2015, winning the premiership with a very young group of girls, most first season.  This was followed up by leading this group to a Minor premiership in the following year.  She coached Pinjarra for 2 years in 2017 & 18 in the Peel League.  This year, Lyn lead KDNA Metro 2019 Open Div 1 team to first their premiership.  This is Lyn’s first year working with the men’s competition and brings a wealth of knowledge & success to the coaching role of the 2019 WANL Men’s Roar team.

Reechelle Guadagnino – Men’s Assistant Coach:

Reechelle has been involved in Netball all her life and over the past 10 years has been pursuing the coaching pathways to move from grassroots to advanced performance coaching. Over the last 3 years,  Reechelle has had the opportunity to be part of the Fever in Time, U17 State Women’s and U17 State Men’s teams. She is excited to be working with Western Roar Men’s squad and the Pride Boys team this year, and can’t wait to launch into the season.
